The best Vimeo alternatives, compared on price and on the job.
Vimeo keeps its logo in the player until Standard, caps every plan at 2 TB a month of bandwidth, and has started moving some business accounts onto a far pricier plan. Here are nine alternatives, what each costs, and which job each one suits.
Disclosure. FRGMT publishes this guide and is one of the platforms below. Every competitor price was read on that company’s own pricing page on the date shown, and where another tool is the better choice for a job, the guide says so.

Why people leave
Three reasons studios look elsewhere.
The logo. On the free plan and on Starter, Vimeo’s logo stays in the player. Removing it takes Standard, at $25/mo billed annually, $41 monthly, per user. For a studio embedding work on its own site, that logo is the first thing a visitor sees after the video itself.
The bandwidth cap. Starter, Standard and Advanced all cap bandwidth at 2 TB a month. Storage is rarely what runs out first; a single embed that does well can use the month’s bandwidth on its own.
The reclassification. PetaPixel reported on 4 September 2026 that Vimeo is moving business-classified accounts, under 10% of its paying customers, onto a Studio plan at $400 a month. Most accounts are not affected, but a studio that relies on Vimeo now has a reason to know where it would go.
What to look for
Six questions that sort the list quickly.
- Does the player carry the host’s logo on the plan you can afford?
- Is bandwidth capped, and what happens past the cap: a block, or a charge per gigabyte?
- Will the host take your largest file whole, and keep the original for download?
- Does playback adapt to the viewer’s connection, up to the resolution you exported?
- Is the work meant for an audience, or for a client who needs to review, approve and download it?
- Can you move an existing library across without downloading and uploading every file by hand?
Reviewed
Nine alternatives, and the job each one is for.
Livid From $10/mo billed annually
Best for: Moving off Vimeo with the least change.
Livid is a video host built to look and behave like the Vimeo a studio already knows, with the logo removed and an exporter that brings the library over. If the job is publishing and embedding, it is the shortest path off Vimeo.
- Storage
- 2 TB
- Bandwidth
- 3 TB a month, then $0.06 per GB delivered over the monthly bandwidth
- Player
- Your own logo on Pro
Strengths
- A free exporter moves a Vimeo library across
- Your logo in the player on Pro
- A familiar hosting and embed model
Limits
- Billed annually at the entry price
- Video only, with no photo galleries alongside
- Bandwidth past the allowance is charged per gigabyte
Verdict. The closest like-for-like replacement for Vimeo hosting, and the easiest move.
FRGMT From $15/mo, Free plan available
Best for: Studios that embed work on their site and deliver it to clients.
FRGMT is a delivery platform rather than a video host alone. One upload sits in a folder and becomes an embed for your site, a client video page, a review link with timecoded comments, or a shared folder of originals with a password and an expiry date.
- Storage
- 100 GB on Starter, 1 TB on Pro
- Bandwidth
- Not capped by plan
- Per file
- 100 GB, resumable
Strengths
- No FRGMT logo on embeds
- Adaptive playback up to 4K when the source is 4K
- Client video pages, galleries, review links and shared folders from the same upload
Limits
- No live streaming
- Embeds start on Starter
- No direct importer from the old host: upload, or import from Dropbox or Google Drive
Verdict. The pick when the same work has to sit on your site, reach a client, and stay downloadable.
Wistia $79/mo billed annually
Best for: Marketing teams measuring what video does for leads.
Wistia treats video as a marketing channel: who watched, how far, and which viewers became leads.
- Storage
- 250 GB
- Seats
- 3 users
Strengths
- Built for video on landing pages
- Viewer analytics
- Lead capture inside the player
Limits
- Priced for a marketing budget
- 250 GB on the plan listed here
- Not built for client delivery
Verdict. Strong for a marketing team; more than a studio needs for hosting its portfolio.
SproutVideo $12/mo billed annually, $15 monthly
Best for: Private company video with access controls.
SproutVideo focuses on keeping video private: who can see it, from where, and with what login.
- Storage
- 150 GB
- Bandwidth
- 1,800 GB a year, then $0.25 per GB over the storage or bandwidth allowance
Strengths
- Privacy and access controls
- Monthly or annual billing
- A straightforward host
Limits
- 150 GB on Seed
- Overage charged per gigabyte
- Video only
Verdict. A solid private host for internal and company video.
Frame.io $13/mo billed annually, $15 monthly, per user
Best for: Review and approval during the edit.
Frame.io is where a cut gets reviewed, not where finished work is published, so it replaces only part of what Vimeo does.
- Seats
- Up to 5 members
- Embeds
- None
Strengths
- Timecoded review comments
- Multiple versions of each cut
- Built for post teams
Limits
- No embeds for a website
- Priced per user
- Not a place to publish finished work
Verdict. The review tool, not the replacement for Vimeo’s player.
YouTube Free
Best for: Reach, when branding and privacy matter less.
YouTube is unmatched for being found, and the trade is control: its player, its suggestions, its rules.
- Cost
- Free
- Player
- YouTube branding
Strengths
- Free
- The largest audience
- Search visibility
Limits
- YouTube branding in the player
- Suggested videos from other channels
- Not suited to private client work
Verdict. Right for an audience, wrong for a client.
Mux, Bunny Stream, Cloudflare Stream Pay per use
Best for: Developers building their own video experience.
These are video APIs. They store, encode and deliver; everything a viewer or client sees, you build.
- Bunny Stream
- $0.01 per GB stored, $1 minimum a month
- Cloudflare Stream
- $5 per 1,000 minutes stored
- Mux
- 100,000 delivery minutes free each month, then $0.0008 per minute delivered after the free allowance
Strengths
- Pay only for what you use
- APIs for building your own player
- Global delivery networks
Limits
- No front end for a client to use
- Needs a developer
- Costs move with traffic
Verdict. Infrastructure, not a product: excellent if you are building one.
Spotlightr $13/mo billed annually, $15 monthly
Best for: Course creators and interactive training video.
Spotlightr is shaped for teaching: video inside courses, with the controls a course creator needs.
- Storage
- 50 GB
- Bandwidth
- 200 GB a month
Strengths
- Built around courses
- Monthly or annual billing
- An affordable entry plan
Limits
- 50 GB on Light
- 200 GB a month of bandwidth
- Not built for client delivery
Verdict. Good for courses; small for a studio’s library.
Dacast $39/mo billed annually
Best for: Live events and streaming at scale.
Dacast is a live-first platform; it fits a studio that runs events more than one that delivers finished edits.
- Storage
- 500 GB
- Bandwidth
- 2.4 TB a year
Strengths
- Live streaming first
- Built for broadcast-style events
- Paywall and monetization options
Limits
- Billed annually at the entry price
- More than a portfolio host needs
- Not built for client delivery
Verdict. The answer when live is the job.

Best by use case
Match the tool to the job.
Livid. The closest player and an exporter for the library.
FRGMT. Embeds, client pages, review links and originals from one upload.
Wistia. Analytics and lead capture built into the player.
SproutVideo. Access controls first.
Frame.io. Timecoded comments and versions, no embeds.
Dacast. Or Vimeo Advanced, if you are staying.
Mux, Bunny or Cloudflare. Pay for what you use and build the rest.
YouTube. Free, and found by search.
When to stay
Vimeo is still the right answer for some.
If you already pay for Standard, the logo is gone and the bandwidth suits your traffic, a move buys little. If you stream live, Vimeo’s Advanced plan at $75/mo billed annually, $125 monthly keeps hosting and streaming in one account. And if you publish to Vimeo’s own community, nothing else gives you that audience.
Moving a library
Four steps to leave without losing anything.
- List what is embedded
Note every page that embeds a video, so each one gets its new code.
- Download your originals
Take the source files from Vimeo, not a compressed copy, so the new host starts from the master.
- Upload or import
Upload to the new host, or put the files in Dropbox and import whole folders.
- Swap the embed codes
Replace each embed, check it plays, then close the old account.
FRGMT has no direct Vimeo importer. Upload the originals, up to 100 GB per file with resumable uploads, or import them from Dropbox, which brings whole folders, or Google Drive, which brings the files you pick. Import is on Starter and above.
Where the file lives
One upload. Embed it, deliver it, keep it.
Save up to 20% with annual billing.
Questions
Vimeo alternatives, answered.
What is the best Vimeo alternative?
For a straight swap of Vimeo's hosting and player, Livid is the closest match, with your own logo in the player and a free exporter that moves a Vimeo library across, from $10/mo billed annually; for a studio that also delivers to clients, FRGMT keeps embeds, galleries, video pages and review links in one library. Which is best depends on whether the video is published to an audience or handed to a client.
Is Vimeo a free site?
Vimeo has a free plan, but it is small and keeps the Vimeo logo in the player, and the cheapest paid plan, Starter, keeps the logo as well, so removing it takes Standard at $25/mo billed annually, $41 monthly, per user. Live streaming takes Advanced or above. The free plan suits trying Vimeo out rather than running a business on it.
How much does Vimeo cost?
Vimeo Starter is $12/mo billed annually, $20 monthly, Standard is $25/mo billed annually, $41 monthly, and Advanced is $75/mo billed annually, $125 monthly, each priced per user, and every one of those plans caps bandwidth at 2 TB a month, so a popular embed can outgrow its plan before its storage does. Separately, PetaPixel reported on 4 September 2026 that Vimeo is moving business-classified accounts, under 10% of its paying customers, onto a Studio plan at $400 a month.
Can I live stream on Vimeo?
Yes, but only on the Advanced plan or Enterprise, at $75/mo billed annually, $125 monthly per user according to Vimeo's own pricing page, because Starter and Standard do not include live streaming, so anyone running regular live events should price Advanced, or a live-first platform such as Dacast, before choosing. FRGMT does not offer live streaming; it delivers finished, uploaded work.
How do I remove the Vimeo logo from my videos?
Vimeo removes its logo from the player only on Standard and above, from $25/mo billed annually, so on Free and Starter it stays; the other route is a host whose player carries no logo of its own, such as Livid on Pro or FRGMT, which shows no FRGMT logo on embeds from Starter up. Either way, check the logo setting before you paste the embed code.
What is the best Vimeo alternative for videographers?
For a videographer who delivers to clients rather than publishing to an audience, FRGMT fits best, because one upload becomes an embed for your own site, a client video page, a review link with timecoded comments, and a downloadable original, with no plan bandwidth cap and no FRGMT logo on embeds. Embeds start on Starter; client pages and review links are on every plan, Free included.
